Bacon wrapped shrimp

Most seafood is not a high fat food- so why not dress it up with a carnivore's favorite fatty meat- bacon!

Need a carnivore appetizer, side, or dish to bring to a potluck? These are quick to prepare and hard to mess up. I made these for a surf-and-turf dinner with ribeye steak.

Ingredients

- Raw jumbo shrimp

- Thin sliced bacon (about 1/2 a slice per shrimp)

Instructions

- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

- Thaw and peel shrimp.

- Make sure shrimp is dry.

- Wrap each shrimp tightly in a piece of bacon. It will probably take about half a slice to wrap each one. I used kitchen scissors to cut the excess bacon once I'd finished wrapping one. You can use toothpicks to assist keeping the bacon in place, but it's not necessary.

- Lay the shrimp out on a baking sheet. Covering the baking sheet first is not necessary.

- Bake for 15 minutes.

- If your bacon has not reached your desired level of crispiness in this time, turn your oven to broil and bake for another couple minutes.

Finding as big of shrimp as possible is important so that the shrimp will cook at the same rate as the bacon. Thick sliced bacon will be difficult to wrap, and keep wrapped, around the shrimp.

If you allow spices, adding seasoning to your shrimp pieces before baking could be a great addition.

Enjoy!
